Committee Training Essentials
Already part of a committee? These sessions are here to help you make the most of your role!
Join Emily & Tiegan, your Student Community Coordinators, for an ongoing series of training sessions covering everything committee members need to know to run a successful society.
Each month we'll focus on a different topic, so you can build your knowledge step by step throughout the year.
What we'll cover (across sessions):
- Managing your society's finances and budgets
- Planning and promoting events
- Submitting event applications and risk assessments
- Recruiting and engaging members
- Working effectively as a committee
- Applying for grants and funding
- Etc.
As well as:
- The chance to ask questions specific to your society
- Ongoing support as challenges come up throughout the year
- Meeting Committee members from other societies in similar positions to yourself.
These sessions are designed to be practical and focused, one topic at a time, so you leave with something useful you can apply straight away.

Event policies
Photography and Filming at Events
It is likely that at Union events photography or filming will take place. At all ticketed events, by purchase of the ticket you agree that you are happy for any video footage, stills, or photographs taken during the event to be used on Union’s online platforms or in print to publicise the Union for commercial and fundraising purposes including, but not limited to, television broadcasts, advertising, publications, marketing material, personalised direct mail, and other documents that may be made available to the public.
In the case of non-ticketed events, your attendance acts as agreement to the above. If you do not wish to be filmed, the photographer/videographer should be informed at the start of the event.
If you do not want your image to be used by the Union, please let us know and we will remove it for you. To request the removal of your image and provide details of where your image is being used, click here .
